Qobuz joins TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 list

The streaming service's recognition brings attention to high-resolution audio, human curation and its approach to AI labeling and artist compensation.

Qobuz has been named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 in the Entertainment and Gaming category. Its October 15 announcement highlights a combination of high-resolution streaming, human-curated recommendations and original music journalism.

Recent additions include expanded recording credits, synchronized lyrics and Qobuz Connect, which enables playback through compatible audio equipment. The company has also introduced an AI Charter and labeling for recordings containing AI-generated music. Labeling is not a blanket ban on AI-generated recordings.

Qobuz emphasizes transparency around artist compensation and says its average royalties per stream to rights holders are higher than those of competing services. That comparison is the company's claim, rather than an independently measured payout analysis by HiFi Herald. The TIME recognition brings wider attention to a service built around discovery and audio quality.
